Watching the news will make you nervous
you may want to buy something

The new things will make you feel new
they’re different, so you’re different too

A Ford or a Buick or a Big Brother story
a hat or a purse or a home wrapped in glory

Someone will be there with something to sell
with something to make you feel safe and well

And all it will cost is freedom or money

And you won’t have to pay today
