A Dead Tree Isn’t

Audio Recordings, Environment, Nature / tagged Art & Artists, Fuel, Rebirth, sculpture, Trees, Warmth / October 7, 2026 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

A dead tree isn't

It lives in furniture and art
and the
warming of the hearth and heart

Poem inspired by the art of Gloria Lee-Shoebridge
This piece is entitled Ancient Flight Click here to see more of Gloria’s work

Poets in Springtime

Audio Recordings, Nature, Poems about Poetry / tagged Easter, Hope, Rebirth / April 5, 2026 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

It is not the job of the poet
to speak of spring in the springtime

The task is to gather
the cool winds of April
to freshen your face in July

And all through the fallings of fall
and all through the dyings of winter

And all through the long days of Lent
all through the pain of the Friday
reminding us always of Sunday

The Reds of Spring

Audio Recordings, Nature / tagged Birds, Celebration, Christ, Easter, Flowers, Rebirth, Spring, Wildflowers / April 12, 2023 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

A radiance of cardinals
an inebriation of winecups

Indian paintbrush
in a field of bluebonnets

Easter running down his ribs

Reincarnation by Cloud

Audio Recordings, Environment, Farm, Nature, Ranch Life / tagged Connection, Hope, Rebirth / April 11, 2023 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

Does the rain falling on us now
remember the palmed oasis
the emerald lake of the Rockies
the laughing over small stones

Hand in hand we stand
faces upward, wet with hope

Magdalene

Audio Recordings, Relationships / tagged Christ, Hope, Love, Rebirth, resurrection / April 10, 2023 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

Mary Magdalene lay down
with the sons of man
And knew them as sons of God
There was no sin in Magdalene
for she saw no sin in them
Dearest of all to the carpenter's son
was the one who could see him most clear
For there was no sin in Magdalene
and she saw no sin in him — It is storied that Mary Magdalene was the first person Jesus appeared to after his resurrection.

Ukrainian Easter

Audio Recordings / tagged Art, Beauty, Destruction, Hope, Pysanky, Rebirth, Ukraine, War / April 9, 2023 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

The Easter Eggs of Ukraine
are beautiful beyond imagining
and were not meant to be scrambled

Wishing peace and hope to those celebrating Easter today and Orthodox Easter next Sunday

The impossible has happened
(silence)
The impossible is about to happen

The First Supper

Audio Recordings / tagged Choice, Easter, Jesus, Passover, Rebirth, Sacrifice, Spirituality / April 15, 2022 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

As above so below
In a life between lives

I sit at a table of light
Set like Da Vinci’s last supper

A table of light lined with people of light

The one in the center the brightest of light
Takes a knife all of light and cuts an arm all of light

The slice of his flesh drips red with his blood
(the only color in the picture of light)

To each at this table he offers

The gift of his flesh to the people of light
(the only color in the picture of light)

One by one they have a choice
not a last supper, but a first

By accepting the gift of his flesh
(the only color in the picture of light)

They come to this Earth
their own gifts to give
