Wedding Reception in Winnipeg

Poems about Poetry / tagged Good Company / June 28, 2019 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com
The house was old and beautiful
the guests were rich and mingly

A boy from the farm
leans against the mantle
leather-bound Leaves of Grass
open in his hand

Anyone bothering to notice
might have thought
Why doesn’t he try to make some friends

He and Walt smile

Diary

If I’d had a diary
I could have called it Dear

\And told it all the stories
that no-one cared to hear

A Hospital is a Place

Uncategorized / tagged Healing, Health, Illness, Surgery / June 23, 2019 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com
A hospital is a place
of corridors and doors
and white shoes in the night

We enter trailing clouds of glory

We leave trailing clouds of story

Eagle on the Moon

Audio Recordings, Environment, Nature / tagged Aboriginal, First Nations, Healing, Reconcilliation / June 21, 2019 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com
When the Eagle lands on the moon
the Indian will come back
into his power

When the mother is in pain
the children who never forgot
will remind

They will have the medicine
to heal her wounds
They will sit with her while
strength returns

And the children who forgot
will remember

and bring flowers

Love in Tennis
Sometimes
    It was sunny side up

           More often
                it was scrambled

                                                                    But it was never
                           going to be
                               over easy
