Nature by nature
sits by the old pond waiting
will the frog leap soon

Nourishment

Haiku / January 18, 2020 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

Guru has one bowl
gentle to the curve of hand
rice in all seasons

This bowl is the handiwork of Stan Irvin, master potter, Rockport Texas www.stanirvin.com

The Big Bang Balloon

Nature / tagged Deep thoughts / January 16, 2020 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

Blow up a balloon within a room
there is inside
and outside the balloon
growing bigger as you blow

When the big bang went
from denseness dot
to plus and plus and plus and us

What was inside the outside then — Photo by Siora Photography on Unsplash

At the Office

Poems about Poetry / January 15, 2020 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

Sometimes a pen
rolls off the desk

A world depends
on if
and when
you pick it up again

Cowboy Chivalry

Cowboy Poetry, Ranch Life, Relationships / tagged Smoking / January 14, 2020 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

The gallantry
to thumbnail strike the match
and cup the hands to shade the wind
to light the damsel’s cigarette

The courage
to kiss that breath

Painting the World in Two Coats

Personal Growth, Relationships / January 13, 2020 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

Right hand brush
in the left hand pail
what an SOB was he

Widows and orphans
browns greys and blacks
wherever he went their tracks

Left hand brush
in the right hand pail
angel of mercy for all to see

Brightness and light
sparkles and sprinkles
never again such a hero we’ ll see
petals in his steps and towers

The Light The Light

Uncategorized / January 12, 2020 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

Below the rainbow that we see

The infra-red we judge
and add a tail and horns

Above the rainbow that we see

Ultra-violet beings dwell
let’s add some wings to these

Sawbones

Uncategorized / tagged Healing, Surgery / January 10, 2020 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

The carpenter
and blacksmith of bone
saws and hammers at my hip

Opting for spinal numbing
I am witness to and victim too

and might have been mistaken
hearing whistling while he worked

I’m Ready For My New Hip Now

Family, Personal Growth, Relationships / tagged Healing, Health / January 9, 2020 / by neil_2015_wordpress@neilmeili.com

I think I have finally forgiven

My old hip for all those years of pain

My mother for her hesitation
to carry me in a time of war

My father for the crushings
between the baler and the shed
and between his will and mine

And have taken also
the first small steps toward gratitude
for how far all three have carried me
