Post Office

Ralph Goodale, Member of Parliament and Minister of Energy and Agriculture tells this story

How he was in the little Wilcox post offie on a winter day at the age of eight or nine

The door opens letting in the swirling snow and a wild man in a huge fur coat

The man picks up his mail
rifles through it quickly, discarding anything that looks like it might be a bill, and leaves

A second later, the door opens again
he looks at Ralph with power in his eyes says Be Great Kid and goes back into the storm

Since the writing of this poem Ralph Goodale has left politics and is presently serving as the Canadian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
